A storm system moved slowly northeast along the New England coast Friday, March 30th and Friday night. Significant snow fell across the area, especially across the elevated terrain. Lesser amounts fell in the valley along the shores of Lake Champlain. A few snowfall reports by county included: Addison county...South Lincoln 16.1 inches with 5.5 inches in Cornwall. Chittenden county...11.8 inches in Hanksville with 4.o inches in Underhill. Rutland county...East Wallingford reported 14 inches while the city of Rutland had 6 inches. The snow that fell was heavy and wet with some power outages and slippery roads with some accidents.

SNOW HAS FINALLY OVERSPREAD JUST ABOUT THE ENTIRE FORECAST AREA THIS
MORNING...WHICH GOING FORECAST HAD ELUDED TO.  ALREADY HAVE PICKED
UP A GENERAL 2 TO 4 INCHES ACROSS SOUTHERN VERMONT WITH AS MUCH AS
6 INCHES IN SOME SPOTS.  SNOW WILL PERSIST ALL DAY AND INTO TONIGHT
THUS WARNINGS IN PLACE LOOK GOOD.  WITH THE INTENSITY OF THE SNOW
THAT HAS ALREADY DEVELOPED ALONG WITH THE DEFORMATION ZONE
BEGINNING TO GET ESTABLISHED...PORTIONS OF THE FORECAST AREA SHOULD
SEE VERY HEAVY SNOWS ABOVE 1000 FEET.  THUS THE NORTHERN
ADIRONDACKS AND MOST OF THE MOUNTAINS IN VERMONT SHOULD SEE 10 TO 20
INCHES OF SNOW.  WILL UP THE TOTAL MOST AREAS...MAINLY IN THE
HIGHER ELEVATIONS.  OTHER ISSUE IS THE SAINT LAWRENCE VALLEY.
BECAUSE OF THE LARGE SIZE OF THE ZONES AND WHERE THE DEFORMATION
ZONE IS SETTING UP...AREAS ALONG AND SOUTH OF ROUTE 11 IN SAINT
LAWRENCE AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO REACH
WARNING CRITERIA.  AREAS ALONG THE SAINT LAWRENCE RIVER WILL
APPROACH WARNING CRITERIA...BUT MAY JUST FALL SHORT.  SO TO BLEND
WITH BUF DECISION TO GO WITH WARNINGS OVER JEFFERSON...LEWIS
COUNTIES...WILL UPGRADE TO A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR NORTHERN
SAINT LAWRENCE AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES.  NO OTHER CHANGES TO GOING
FORECAST AT THIS TIME.
