Low pressure off the Delmarva peninsula on the morning of the 30th intensified as it moved northeast during the day reaching southern Nova Scotia by the morning of the 31st. The low brought heavy snow to all of the state except coastal York county where the precipitation fell mostly as rain. Snowfall amounts generally ranged from 10 to 18 inches with 6 to 10 inches along the coast from Portland northward where the precipitation mixed with rain.
