UTAH AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UTAH 300 AM MST SUN FEB 11 2001 SYNOPSIS...STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE OUT OF UTAH TODAY WITH ANOTHER SYSTEM MOVING INTO UTAH TONIGHT AND MONDAY. DISCUSSION...DISTURBANCE MOVING THROUGH STATE THIS MORNING. GOOD BAND OF PRECIPITATION HAD SET UP OVERNIGHT NORTH OF OGDEN. ANOTHER BAND IS MAKING ITS WAY EAST-NORTHEAST THROUGH SOUTHERN UTAH. THIS BAND IS PERHAPS PUTTING DOWN SOME SNOWFALL FAST...BUT BAND MOVING AT A GOOD CLIP AS WELL. THEREFORE...DO NOT EXPECT ADVISORY AMOUNTS WITH THIS FEATURE. PRECIPITATION ENDING FOR THE MOST PART FROM WEST TO EAST TODAY AS DISTURBANCE TRACKS OUT OF THE FORECAST AREA. HOWEVER...A FEW SHOWERS WILL LINGER ACROSS THE NORTH LONGER THAN THE SOUTH. WILL ALLOW ADVISORIES IN NORTHERN UTAH TO EXPIRE THIS MORNING. THE NEXT LOW TRAVELING SOUTH ALONG THE WESTERN US COASTLINE WILL END UP OFF THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA COAST BY TUESDAY MORNING. IN THE MEANTIME...A DISTURBANCE WILL EJECT OUT OF THIS LOW THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO UTAH TONIGHT. WITH THE LOWS PROGRESSION SOUTHWARD...MODELS STILL ESTABLISHING A BAROCLINIC ZONE AND SURFACE TROUGH OVER UTAH BY MONDAY MORNING. THIS WILL LIKELY KEEP WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION THROUGH MUCH OF MONDAY. ANOTHER WAVE MOVING SOUTH THROUGH THE CANADIAN ROCKIES TO SLIP EAST AND LEAVE LOW CUTOFF BY WEDNESDAY MORNING. DURING THE DAY TUESDAY...THIS SYSTEM WILL HELP THE BAROCLINIC ZONE TIGHTEN OVER UTAH AND SET UP DEFORMATION ZONE OVER NORTHERN UTAH AND SOUTHERN IDAHO. NEXT LOW DIGS ACROSS PACIFIC NORTHWEST ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND HELPS KICK LOW EAST BY THURSDAY NIGHT. HOWEVER...PIECE FROM THIS LOW TRACKS ACROSS UTAH THURSDAY. STILL UNSETTLED FRIDAY WITH LOW REMAINING IN NORTHWEST AND BAROCLINIC ZONE IN CENTRAL UTAH. STILL NOT CONFIDENT ON PRECIPITATION ACROSS THE NORTHWEST TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...BUT WILL NOT MESS WITH EXTENDED SINCE BAROCLINIC ZONE MAY SET UP ELS2EWHERE. SLC 668 CDC 357 NELSON .SLC...NONE.
