A deep cold upper level trough dug down over CA br9ng snow levels as low as 300 feet. On Mt Diablo 30 inches of snow fell over a two day period that produced 6 foot drifts, closing the Lick Observatory and a state park. This was a record snowfall for this location. The storm also closed Skyline drive in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties with 8 inches of snow reported. The storm closed highway 17 between Santa ?Cruz and Santa Clara counties with 8 inches of snow and many downed trees. Thousands of households lost power due to the snow and resulting downed trees that lasted as long as 3 to 4 days in some areas. Mt umhumnum in Santa Clara County received over 20 inches of snow that isolated the NWS radar.various roads and locations in Sonoma napa and Marin county had snow and road closures.
