WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT. THE AIRMASS WILL DRY
SLIGHTLY OVER NORTHERN UTAH FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.
DISCUSSION...SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS FIRING OVER CENTRAL AND
SOUTHWEST UTAH. NORTHERN UTAH SLOW TO GET GOING UNDER AN AREA OF
CLOUDS...BUT DE-STABILIZING NOW. SHORTWAVE OVER SOUTH-CENTRAL OREGON
WILL MOVE EAST AND ACROSS IDAHO TONIGHT. WEAK 40 KNOT AT 300 MB JET
WILL INCREASE OVER NORTHERN UTAH DURING THE NIGHT ASSOCIATED WITH
THAT WAVE...LEADING TO DIVERGENCE ALOFT OVER THE STATE. NEW ETA HAS
LESS ACTIVITY OVER NORTHERN UTAH FRIDAY IN WEAK SHORTWAVE
RIDGING...THIS IDEA ACCEPTED. AIRMASS WILL BE SLOW TO DRY SOUTHERN
AND EASTERN UTAH. RIDGE ALOFT POPS UP AGAIN FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
AND SHIFTS EAST. THIS RETURNS SOUTHERLY FLOW TO THE WHOLE AREA ON

Portions of Cedar City got pounded with heavy rains, submerging the north freeway interchange with several inches of water and causing a multi-car accident. Streets and basements were also flooded in the Fiddler's Canyon subdivision.
