Thunderstorms dumped one to nearly three inches of rain in a short period of time causing widespread street and lowland flooding. Spotters measured 2.4 inches of rain on the northeast side of Canton. Rainfall rates at the peak of the storm were in excess of an inch of rainfall every 20 minutes. Many roads and underpasses were closed and flood waters on a few of the roads exceeded three feet in depth.
