MOUNTAINS ABOVE 8000 FEET. WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
WILL CONTINUE TUESDAY.
DISCUSSION...UPDATED TO ISSUE A SNOW ADVISORY THROUGH TONIGHT FOR
THE NORTHERN UTAH MOUNTAINS. 5-8 INCHES ALREADY THIS MORNING OF WET
SNOW ABOVE 8000 FEET. A SURFACE LOW IS OVER THE GREAT SALT LAKE
DESERT UNDER THERMAL RIDGE AT 700 MB. TROUGH ALOFT OVER NEVADA WILL
SWING ACROSS UTAH THIS AFTERNOON. ASSOCIATED SURFACE COLD FRONT IS
FROM JUST WEST OF ELKO TO JUST EAST OF TWIN FALLS. FRONT HAS A GOOD
TEMPERATURE GRADIENT ACROSS IT. THE FRONT WILL ROLL INTO NORTHWEST
UTAH THIS AFTERNOON AND BE NEAR A LINE FROM ELKO TO PROVO THEN
NORTHEAST BY 00Z. LOW LEVEL WARM AND MOIST AIRMASS COMBINED WITH THE
JET OVERHEAD WILL RESULT IN A FEW STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE
FRONT THIS AFTERNOON.
TONIGHT THE FRONT STALLS OVER CENTRAL UTAH AND STAYS THERE THROUGH
