The episode as NWS ALY wrote it up.
A deep low pressure system tracked northward from the southern plains to the western Great Lakes on Feburary 25. A strong southerly flow ahead of this system brought a deep layer of moisture to the western Adirondacks. Warm air was forced up over the cold air near the ground, which resulted in a potpourri of wintry precipitation. This fell in the form of snow, sleet and freezing rain across the western Adirondacks. The combination of the three produced a significant amount of wintry precipitation. 0.84 inches of melted liquid equivalent fell at the Stillwater reservoir in northern Herkimer County and 0.71 inches at Piseco, Hamilton county. The mix produce minor accumulations of snow, sleet and a glaze of ice. There were no problems reported to the National Weather Service as a result of this winter storm.
