THIS SYSTEM WILL PRODUCE HEAVY SNOW IN THE MOUNTAINS WHILE PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN WILL OCCUR IN VALLEYS. THE RAIN WILL BEGIN TO TAPER OFF LATE THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY...ALTHOUGH SHOWERS WILL STILL BE LIKELY. ON FRIDAY...THE SNOW LEVEL COULD POSSIBLY FALL TO 3000 FEET IN HEAVIER SHOWERS. DISCUSSION...SATELLITE SHOWS AN IMPRESSIVE PACIFIC COLD FRONT SPREADING INTO CENTRAL CALIFORNIA WITH RAIN MOVING ACROSS THE CENTRAL VALLEY AND LA BASIN. CLOUD SHIELD INCREASING ACROSS THE DESERTS WITH RAIN AND SNOW BECOMING HEAVY AT TIMES OVERNIGHT. ETA/AVN TIMING SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT WITH AVN BLOWING FRONTAL BAND ACROSS THE REGION 6 HOURS FASTER THEN ETA. DUE TO COMPLEXITY OF UPPER TROUGH AND NUMEROUS SHORT WAVES PIVOTING THROUGH BELIEVE THE SLOWER ETA BETTER. ALTHOUGH...18Z MESO-ETA LENDING SOME CREDENCE TO THE AVN BLOWING FRONT THROUGH RATHER QUICKLY WITH RAIN TAPERING OFF LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON. FOR THE LAS VEGAS VALLEY LOOKS AS HEAVIEST RAIN WILL FALL BETWEEN 12Z AND 21Z THURSDAY. IN WAKE OF FRONTAL BAND...REGION LEFT UNDER COLD CYCLONIC FLOW AND SHOWERY REGIME.
