CURRENT FORECAST WHICH WAS ISSUED BY MSO DUE TO AWIPS UPGRADE TODAY LOOKS IN GOOD SHAPE ESPECIALLY CONCERNING DIFFICULT FORECAST SITUATION. WILL BE MAKING A FEW MINOR CHANGES BASED ON CURRENT TRENDS. IN THE N..ARCTIC FRONT MOVED THROUGH CTB ABOUT 7 PM AND SHOULD BE CLOSE TO GTF BY 9 PM. MORNING NGM RUN WAS TOO SLOW WITH FRONT BUT LATEST RUN IS MUCH BETTER. ETA HAS BEEN GOOD WITH TIMING PRETTY MUCH ALL ALONG. SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS AN AREA OF COLDER TOPS OVER CENTRAL ALTA WHICH IS ASSOCIATED WITH SOME PIVA ACCORDING TO LATEST ETA. ASSOCIATED SURFACE OBSERVATIONS SHOW LOWER VISIBILITIES ALONG WITH GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS. CONDITIONS WILL BE SPREADING S OVERNIGHT SO CURRENT SNOW/BLOWING SNOW ADVISORIES LOOK GOOD. BASED ON CANADIAN OBSERVATIONS AND LATEST FWC GUIDANCE WILL RAISE LOWS FOR TONIGHT A LITTLE AT CTB AND HVR. IN THE S HAD A NICE DISCUSSION WITH BIL ON CURRENT WINTER STORM WATCH. HAVE DECIDED TO LEAVE WATCH AS IS. IN THE AREA OF THE WATCH MODELS POINT TO AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF OVERUNNING SNOW THU INTO FRI. HEAVIER SNOW COULD HOLD OFF UNTIL THU NIGHT AS INCREASED PACIFIC MOISTURE LINES UP WITH THERMAL BOUNDARY ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT. MODELS STILL NOT SURE WHERE FRONT WILL END UP.
