A strong storm system moved across Northwest Missouri on February 9th with a variety of winterweather. Heavy snows of 8 to 10 inches fell across Nodaway county, with 6 to 8 inches north of aSt. Joseph to Grant City line. The remainder of the area reported 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice accumulation,with snowfalls of 1 to 5 inches on top of the ice. Numerous traffic accidents were reported along withadditional school closings.

KANSAS CITY METRO AND INTO PUTNAM AND SULLIVAN COUNTIES TO THE
NORTHEAST.  THE WINTER STORM WARNING WILL BE NORTH OF A LINE FROM
JOHNSON COUNTY KS TO LEES SUMMIT TO KIRKSVILLE LINE FOR TONIGHT AND
FRIDAY.  WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR LATE TONIGHT AND FRIDAY TO
SOUTH FROM PAOLA TO BROOKFIELD WHILE FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT
FOR MUCH OF AREA FOR TONIGHT.

STRONG UPPER LEVEL DYNAMICS AND ASSOCIATED VERTICAL MOTION WILL MOVE
ACROSS THE AREA TONIGHT AND FRIDAY AS A STRONG VORT MAX MOVES FROM
NEW MEXICO THIS EVENING...INTO MISSOURI BY MORNING.  CURRENT SFC
ANALYSIS SHOWS STRONG COLD SURGE INTO NORTHERN MISSOURI WITH
TEMPERATURES FALLING TO OR BELOW FREEZING MANY LOCATIONS BY
MIDNIGHT.  STRONG LOW LEVEL JET AND MOISTURE ADVECTION WILL CONTINUE
PRECIPITATION OVERNIGHT...HEAVY AT TIMES AHEAD OF APPROACHING UPPER
LEVEL SYSTEM.
