Drought conditions continued to worsen throughout the western and mid-coast sections of the state as dry weather continued. The drought conditions were classified in the severe level according to the Plamer Drought Severity Index. The water level of Sebago Lake was 14% below normal while reservoirs in the Kennebec and Androscoggin River Basins were both 14 % below normal. Three ground water monitoring wells in the state reached new October lows with the ground water monitoring well in Madison reporting its lowest level in 18 years of record. Departures from normal precipitation for the 10 months ending with October included -15.35 inches in Belfast, -11.81 inches in Waterville, -11.22 in Moosehead, -10.93 in Augusta, -10.73 in Madison, and -10.52 in Bingham.
