SUMMARY...COLD FRONTAL BAND MOVED THROUGH KAUAI AND OAHU OVERNIGHT
AND IS TRANSITING MAUI COUNTY THIS MORNING...ACCOMPANIED BY HEAVY
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. LIGHTER SHOWERS CONTINUE BEHING THE
FRONT. GALE FORCE SOUTHERLY WINDS AHEAD OF THE FRONT ARE DIMINISHING
TO SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS BEHIND THE FRONT AT 10 TO 20 MPH.

DISCUSSION...A KONA LOW IS IN THE FORMATION PROCESS SOUTHWEST OF
KAUAI...WHILE A COLD FRONT IS PUSHING ITS WAY ACROSS THE STATE FROM
WEST TO EAST. HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE ACCOMPANYING THE
FRONT ACROSS THE STATE...WITH STRONG SOUTHERLY FLOW EAST OF THE
DEVELOPING LOW...STILL OVER MAUI COUNTY AND THE BIG ISLAND AS THIS
IS BEING WRITTEN. BUT BRIEF NORTHWEST WINDS VEERING QUICKLY BACK TO
SOUTHERLY ARE FOLLOWING THE FRONT. THE KONA LOW WILL REMAIN NEARBY
KAUAI TODAY...THEN SLOWLY EASE IT OFF TO THE WEST. THE FRONT WILL
PASS OFF TO THE EAST OF THE BIG ISLAND BY TONIGHT. THIS SHOULD ALLOW
THE WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN TO RELAX STATEWIDE BY TONIGHT...BUT CLOUDS
AND SHOWERS WILL LIKELY CONTINUE TO BE A FACTOR IN OUR WEATHER FOR
ANOTHER COUPLE OF DAYS UNTIL HIGHER PRESSURE BUILDS BACK IN TO OUR
