JATGAZ010-017-018-026-028-029-NCZ033>037-048>059-062>072-082-SCZ001>014- 019-142130- SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG SC 1136 AM EDT THU JUN 14 2001 UNSTABLE AIR AND PLENTIFUL MOISTURE SHOULD COMBINE TO PRODUCE VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. AIR CONVERGING FROM A WESTERLY FLOW ACROSS THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AND A NORTHEAST FLOW AROUND A LOW PRESSURE AREA ALONG THE NORTH CAROLINA COAST... SHOULD AID IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF STORMS. THE HIGHEST POSSIBILITY FOR DAMAGING THUNDERSTORM WINDS EXIST OVER PIEDMONT COUNTIES ALONG THE INTERSTATE 77 CORRIDOR. BUT STORMS STRONG ENOUGH TO DO DAMAGE COULD OCCUR THROUGH OUT THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND EXTREME NORTHEAST GEORGIA. LARGE HAIL WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY STRONG STORMS. THERE IS ALSO A THREAT OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN IN EXCESS OF THREE INCHES FROM ANY SLOW MOVING STORMS THAT DEVELOP. SINCE THE GROUND IS STILL MOIST FROM THE THUNDERSTORMS ON WEDNESDAY... FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE FROM DOWNPOURS IN AREAS WHERE HEAVY RAIN PERSISTS. SPOTTER GROUPS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO ACTIVATE QUICKLY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING.
