NO MAJOR CHANGES TO GOING FORECAST AS MOIST SOUTHERLY FLOW REMAINS
ENTRENCHED OVER INTERMOUNTAIN REGION.  MORNING CONVECTION ON THE
DECREASE WITH HEAVIEST 24 HR RAINFALL STANDING AT JUST OVER 0.50
INCHES AT JENSEN UTAH.  MOST REPORTING LOCATIONS WHICH DID RECEIVE
RAIN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING SAW LESS THEN 0.25 INCHES.
EXPECT MUCH OF THE SAME TODAY...WITH MORNING SUNSHINE GIVING WAY
TO SCATTERED AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.  WATCHING A WEAK
WAVE OVER WEST TX THIS MORNING...WHICH SHOULD ARRIVE OVER OUR AREA
BY THIS AFTERNOON...ENHANCING CONVECTIVE THREAT WITH A LITTLE ADDED
LIFT.  IN ADDITION...SHEAR PROFILES IMPROVING SLIGHTLY AS WESTERN
U.S. TROUGH SENDS SOME ENERGY INTO THE REGION OVER THE NEXT 48
HOURS. THIS WILL ALLOW FLOW ALOFT TO TRANSITION FROM SOUTHERLY
COMPONENT TODAY...TO A MORE WESTERLY COMPONENT BY LATE TUESDAY. THIS
WILL BRING SOME DRYING TO THE REGION LATE TUE AND WED...BUT WILL ALSO
ENHANCE WIND SPEED AND DIRECTIONAL SHEAR...LEADING TO BETTER
ORGANIZATION OF CONVECTION TUE.  PLAN ON MAINTAINING SCT POPS THROUGH
THE SHORT-TERM AND CURRENT EXTENDED ON TRACK ADVERTISING DRIER CONDS
LATER IN THE WEEK.  WILL ALSO CONTINUE TO GO ABOVE GUIDANCE TEMPS FOR
AFTERNOON READINGS AS MODELS HAVE BEEN CONSISTENTLY LOW FOR THE LAST
SEVERAL DAYS.

WESTERN COLORADO AND EASTERN UTAH EMERGENCY MANAGERS SHOULD MAINTAIN
A HEIGHTENED LEVEL OF WEATHER AWARENESS THROUGH THIS EVENING DUE TO
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...WHICH WILL PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN AND
STRONG WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 50 MPH.
