What happened

The episode as NWS ALY wrote it up.

A weak surface trough touched off a cluster of thunderstorms in an unstable airmass across Warren and Washington counties during the early afternoon of July 9. One of the storms became briefly severe as it deposited one inch size hail in the town of South Queensbury. It was reported that the ground was covered by hail. In the town of Hudson Falls in Washington County, quarter size hail fell . Strong thunderstorm winds tore a roof off the assembly building at the GL & V Group on Allen Street, damaging equipment inside the building and caving in portions of the roof on an adjacent building. Thunderstorm winds also blew down limbs and branches onto a golf course at Fort Edward, forcing the golf course to close for 24 hours.
