SECONDARY TROUGH SHOULD BE MOVING ACROSS THE SIERRA. AS FOR THE CURRENT COOLING TREND... LATEST 24 HOUR CHANGE SHOWS SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY READINGS DOWN FROM 4 TO 7 DEGREES WITH MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS SHOWING SIMILAR TRENDS. STRONG ONSHORE FLOW CONTINUES WITH MARINE LAYER DEPTHS OF AROUND 3000 FEET AT FORT ORD IN THE NORTH...AND 5000 FEET AT SIMI VALLEY. COMBINATION OF THE TWO IS REALLY CRANKING UP THE WINDS THROUGH THE KERN DESERTS AND ESPECIALLY THE TEHACHAPI PASS MOJAVE GUSTING TO OVER 60 MPH PER THE EDWARDS WIND TOWER NETWORK...AND SUSTAINED WINDS OVER 20 MPH AT MANY OTHER LOCATIONS. WILL NEED TO UPDATE TO INCREASE THE WIND FORECAST AND COVER GUSTS IN MOJAVE WITH NOWCASTS. AS FOR MODEL TRENDS...NO SURPRISES THIS MORNING AS MODELS ALL AGREE IN RAPIDLY MOVING THE TROUGH EAST INTO ARIZONA BY THIS AFTERNOON WHILE BUILDING A RIDGE OVER THE AREA ON TUESDAY. THIS SHOULD ALLOW FOR THE BEGINNING OF BIG WARM UP...HOWEVER SOME LAG MAY OCCUR IN THE SAN JOAQUIN AS MARINE AIR WILL NEED TO BE MIXED OUT. IN THE EXTENDED FORECAST...IT LOOKS QUITE HOT ON WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY AS HEIGHTS ARE PROGGED TO THE 5900 TO 5920 RANGE ALONG WITH 850 MB TEMPS AS WARM AS 28C.
