SYNOPSIS...AN AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER EAST CENTRAL NEVADA TODAY
WILL MEANDER SOUTH AND BE LOCATED OVER SOUTHERN NEVADA AND NORTHWEST
ARIZONA WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY. THIS WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP
TEMPERATURES SEVERAL DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. ENOUGH MID LEVEL MOISTURE
WILL BE TRAPPED UNDER THE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT
OF HIGH BASED THUNDERSTORMS...MAINLY OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN.
DISCUSSION...TODAY VERY SIMILAR TO YESTERDAY AS WITH HIGH BASED
THUNDERSTORMS ISOLATED TO THE MOUNTAINS AND WEAKENING AS THEY MOVE
INTO THE VALLEYS. NO TRIGGER EVENT IN WV IMAGERY TO MAINTAIN STORMS
MUCH PAST SUNSET.
FORECAST BASED ON THE ETA MODEL AS BELIEVE AVN AGAIN TO DRY/STABLE
NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. THE UPPER HIGH WILL SLOWLY MEANDER SOUTH AND BE
OVER SOUTHERN NEVADA AND NORTHWEST ARIZONA WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY.
THIS WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THE REGION WILL SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURES. CONVECTION WISE...ETA MAINTAINS SIMILAR AMOUNTS OF MID
LEVEL MOISTURE AROUND WEDNESDAY WITH SLIGHTLY LESS OVER THE MOJAVE
DESERT THURSDAY. EVEN WITH SIMILAR AMOUNTS OF MOISTURE TRAPPED UNDER
THE UPPER HIGH...ETA GENERATES LESS INSTABILITY NEXT TWO AFTERNOONS.
THIS LIKELY DUE TO WARMER AIR ALOFT CREATING A STRONGER CAP. WILL GO
WITH A LOW-GRADE MONSOON FORECAST MENTIONING SLIGHT CHANCE/ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS MAINLY CONFINED TO THE HIGHER TERRAIN.
INTO THE EXTENDED WILL TAKE A MORE CONSERVATIVE APPROACH WITH
RESPECT TO THE DRYING TREND. LATEST MRF DOES NOT MOVE UPPER HIGH AS
FAR SOUTH WHICH WOULD INCREASE OUR SOUTHWEST FLOW. THE MRF ALSO
WEAKER WITH TROUGH COMING INTO THE WEST COAST LATE IN THE EXTENDED
BUT STILL ENOUGH SOUTHWEST FLOW TO DRY THINGS OUT. PIERCE

Strong thunderstorm winds downed several power lines knocking out power to several hundred residents. High winds also destroyed a large aluminum storage shed that had been in the same area for 18 years. The roof was also torn off a local business a several large pieces of equipment were also damaged on the property.
