SOUTHEAST ARIZONA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TUCSON AZ 845 PM MST TUE AUG 7 2001 .SYNOPSIS...AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS WILL MOVE INTO WESTERN NEW MEXICO WEDNESDAY. IT WILL REMAIN STATIONARY UNTIL THE END OF THE WEEK...WHICH WILL KEEP A RATHER HIGH RISK OF SHOWERS AND STORMS IN THE REGION. .DISCUSSION...DECENT UPPER LEVEL DYNAMICS WERE IN PLACE TODAY OVER THE AREA...BUT LOWER LAYERS REMAINED TOO DRY FOR A SIGNIFICANT UPSWING IN THUNDERSTORMS. THE MAIN ACTION CONTINUED TO BE ACROSS WESTERN PIMA COUNTY WHERE STRONG STORMS WERE OCCURRING AGAIN THIS EVENING. AT ANY RATE...LOOKS LIKE THE THREAT FOR THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO DIMINISH DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. ALREADY UPDATED THE FORECAST TO REMOVE POPS FROM MOST ZONES EXCEPT THE FAR WEST AND SOUTH. LATEST MODELS WERE STILL KEEPING SOME DECENT UPPER LEVEL SUPPORT FOR THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH THE WEEK. HOWEVER...IT IS STILL SOMEWHAT QUESTIONABLE WHETHER ENOUGH MOISTURE WILL BE AROUND. .TWC...NONE.
