High Wind in Alaska, May 11 to 12, 2001
A moderate front moved steadily northeast toward the extreme eastern Aleutians and Alaska Peninsula Friday afternoon through Saturday. Reported easterly winds at Cold Bay reached 59 mph, however data-void areas along the western Alaska Peninsula likely experienced wind gusts of 70+ mph.

A moderate front moved steadily northeast toward the extreme eastern Aleutians and Alaska Peninsula Friday afternoon through Saturday. By Saturday evening, the front had weakened from just north of Dutch Harbor east southeast into the northeast Pacific and was no longer generating winds of 60+ mph.Easterly winds peaked at 101 mph at the Dutch Harbor airport between 9:35 am and 10:35 am Saturday.Reported easterly winds at Cold Bay reached 59 mph, however data-void areas along the western Alaska Peninsula likely experienced wind gusts of 70+ mph.
