High Wind in Alaska, December 22, 2001
A strong 970 mb low near Homer at 3 am Saturday moved north northwest into the Alaskan interior and began to weaken later in the day. Strong southeast winds were observed in parts of Anchorage with the system.

A strong 970 mb low near Homer at 3 am Saturday moved north northwest into the Alaskan interior and began to weaken later in the day. Strong southeast winds were observed in parts of Anchorage with the system. Very strong pressure rises accompanied passage of the storm.Again, Glen Alps handar observations were missing in the database, due to faulty modem. A call to the system via phone between 7 am and 8 am Saturday picked up gusts of 64 mph. Undoubtedly, stronger winds hit the area earlier, estimated at least 70 mph. This was the same storm that produced reported 80 mph winds around Homer.Event maxima...At least 64 mph from the southeast between 7:00 am and 8:00 am AST Saturday, 12/22/01.
