Southeast winds, in advance of a moderate front, reached 60 + mph at the Portage visitor center beginning around 10:15 pm Monday. Winds peaked at the site at 70 mph around 7 am Tuesday.

Southeast winds, in advance of a moderate front, reached 60 + mph at the Portage visitor center beginning around 10:15 pm Monday. Winds peaked at the site at 70 mph around 7 am Tuesday. Near the top of Mount Alyeska, gusts reached 109 mph Tuesday.Snow and blowing snow was reported by the road crew at Thompson Pass. Vehicles were routed through the Pass in convoys for safety reasons. Thirteen inches of snow fell in the Pass during the day Tuesday.
