High winds with sustained speeds of 40 to 50 mph and gusts above 60 mph persisted from around noon into early evening. Numerous shingles were blown off of roofs. Some power lines were blown down with resulting outages, most notable in Beadle County including Huron. Several empty mobile homes were rolled over at a lot near Sioux Falls. The winds exacerbated numerous grass fires, a few of which also burned farm buildings. One firefighter suffered exhaustion and smoke inhallation while fighting a fire on the northeast edge of Sioux Falls.
