High winds with sustained speeds of 40 to 50 mph and gusts above 60 mph persisted from early afternoon into early evening. Numerous shingles were blown off roofs and some power lines were blown down. A few small farm buildings were damaged. The winds exacerbated several grass fires which started under the prevailing dry conditions.
