A series of thunderstorms with heavy rain caused flash flooding of streams in the western part of the county. Doppler Radar storm total estimates (adjusted from surrounding ground truth reports) indicated as much as 4 inches of rain fell in Tulpehocken and Marion Townships.

A series of thunderstorms with heavy rain caused flash flooding of streams in the western part of the county. Doppler Radar storm total estimates (adjusted from surrounding ground truth reports) indicated as much as 4 inches of rain fell in Tulpehocken and Marion Townships. Several roads were flooded and closed in Marion and Jefferson Townships. Many tributaries of the Tulpehocken Creek exceeded bankfull. Poor drainage flooding also occurred around the Reading area with four roads within the city closed and Pennsylvania State Route 10 and U.S. Route 222 closed south of the city. Storm totals included 3.29 inches in Bethel Township, 2.86 inches in Myerstown (Eastern Lebanon County), 2.30 inches in Bernville 1.93 inches in Hamburg and 1.66 inches in Vinemont. Flooding from the heavy rain forced the closure of the swim beach in Blue Marsh Lake. No serious injuries were reported.
