A cluster of severe thunderstorms produced damaging wind and hail close to midnight. Numerous downed trees and power lines were reported along with the usual associated power outages. A lot of hail fell in Weaverville but the size was unknown. Lightning struck a home in Mars Hill, destroying the home and its contents.
