Thunderstorm winds downed many trees in Rittman, Creston, Orrville and Wooster. Scattered trees were knocked down elsewhere across the county as well. A construction trailer was knocked over and destroyed in Rittman. Two homes were damaged by fallen trees in Wooster.

Thunderstorms dumped three to five inches of rain on Stark County during the evening hours. Spotters measured two and one half inches of rain in a 35 minute period. Many streams and creeks went out of there banks and widespread street flooding occurred. Several people had to rescued in Canton when their vehicles became stranded in water up to four feet deep. Approximately 100 people were evacuated in Jackson Township because of a possible dam failure. The people lived downstream of the Smith Mill Pond earthen dam. The dam developed a three foot diameter hole and came close to failing completely.

Thunderstorm winds downed over 30 trees on Catawba Island and several others in Marblehead. A 70 mph thunderstorm wind gust was measured at the Coast Guard Station in Marblehead. Several homes were damaged by fallen trees and a car was crushed by a tree in Marblehead. A garage was also crushed on Catawba Island and a nearby home lost much of its roof.
