A strong cold front moved through the area in the early morning with strong gusty winds behind the front. There were many reports of sustained winds 30-40 mph with gusts as high as 60 mph. Damage included a billboard blowdown in Whiteville, Columbus County. Several trees were downed, contributing to power outages to at least 600 homes. A tree fell on a house and car in Southport, Brunswick County. In Wilmington, 2 people were injured when a fence was blown down.
