Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.
Unusually warm and dry conditions persisted throughout the month prolonging the high fire danger and depleting reservoir levels as water districts drew heavily to meet irrigation demand. The early part of the summer thunderstorm season was dominated by dry lightning which sparked numerous new forest fires. However, humidity was high enough to prevent rapid spread of these fires and most were contained to less than several hundred acres in size. Heavy rain storms appeared only for a few days at mid and late month. Several flash floods were reported as moderate rains developed over the Viveash and Cerro Grande burned areas, but fortunately these locations avoid the typically heavier summer rains that would have produced major flash floods below the burned forests.
