With grounds already saturated from recent thunderstorms, a slow-moving thunderstorm producing 4 to 5 inches of rain resulted in the flooding of a park, the fairgrounds and most roads leading into Fredonia. The flooding was so extensive that nearly all access into Fredonia was closed off. New Albany, located 5 miles norhwest of Fredonia, was completely cutoff when the county road leading to it was barricaded.
