Heavy Snow, Susitna Valley

A moderate low and frontal system moving toward the Susitna Valley from near Kodiak Island brought heavy snows to areas along the extreme northern Parks Highway south of Denail Park and to areas in the northwest Susitna Valley. 16 inches of snow reported at Skwentna Tuesday afternoon, prompted a heavy snow warning for the area. By mid morning Wednesday, 2 feet of new snow was reported by the Department of Transportation at the Chulitna Maintenance Camp. The area of heavy snow was very narrow...with Hurricane Gulch and Talkeetna recording only 8" and 7" of snow, respectively, from noon Tuesday to noon Wednesday.
