Snow and sleet overspread northwestern North Carolina during the early morning hours of the 1st. Snow accumulations of up to 2 inches occurred before changing to sleet and freezing rain. Freezing rain accumulated 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch, downing some trees and tree limbs, before changing to light rain and drizzle during the afternoon and evening.
