Dry weather that began in August continued through December. Dry surface and soil conditions remained quite pronounced. Water levels continued to fall slowly, especially in wetlands, small streams, and lakes. Above normal temperatures contributed to further drying. There were a few grass fires, and agricultural concern was mounting for the future growing season.
