Dry weather that began in August continued through December. Dry surface and soil conditions remained quite pronounced. Water levels continued to fall slowly, especially in wetlands, small streams, and lakes. Above normal temperatures contributed to further drying. There were a few grass fires reported. Agricultural concern was mostly for the future growing season, but there were some effects of the drought noted to winter wheat.
