Dry weather that began in August continued through December. Dry surface and soil conditions became even more pronounced. Water levels continued to fall slowly, especially in wetlands, small streams, and lakes. Above normal temperatures contributed to further drying. There was great concern for the future growing season because of the dry soil conditions, and there were a few grass fires.
