High Wind in Nebraska, April 8 to 10, 1999
A strong area of low pressure across the central US in combination with high pressure across the Rockies brought high winds to Southwest Nebraska for a three day period. These strong winds caused damage to a couple of schools, a local Post Office, several power line poles to be severed, and numerous houses had their shingles torn off.

A strong area of low pressure across the central US in combination with high pressure across the Rockies brought high winds to Southwest Nebraska for a three day period. These strong winds caused damage to a couple of schools, a local Post Office, several power line poles to be severed, and numerous houses had their shingles torn off. McCook airport had a peak wind speed of 57 mph on the 8th with many other locations receiving similar peak wind speeds during the event.
