As a line of severe storms moved into Peoria County, a power pole was snapped off at the ground near Elmwood and an awning at a gas station in Brimfield was damaged. No injuries were reported.
Several trees were blown down halfway between Pleasant Plains and Springfield.
As a severe thunderstorm moved northeast across Christian County, numerous reports of damage were received. Six miles south of Sicily, three grain bins were damaged. Four miles south of Tovey, four homes sustained minor damage and several tree limbs and power lines were blown down one mile south of Kincaid. Also, 3 homes sustained minor damage four miles northwest of Taylorville. No injuries were reported.
A tree was blown over onto a power pole in Decatur, knocking down a couple of power lines. In Argenta, a truck was blown off of I-72. No injuries were reported.
A severe thunderstorm moved through Pana causing scattered damage. Several trees were blown down and there was minor damage to the high school football fieldbox. Also, a dugout on the high school baseball field was destroyed. Downtown several building sustained minor damage and a couple of outbuildings on the east side of town were destroyed. No injuries were reported.
A tornado formed and touched down destroying a double wide trailer 3 miles north of Cisco. Four people were initially injured, though one died the next day. A barn and two garages nearby were destroyed. Further to the northeast, the tornado destroyed a barn. Five miles north northeast of Cisco, the top story of a two story barn was removed. After this, the tornado lifted and dissipated. Damage to the mobile home was estimated around $150,000.
As a severe thunderstorm moved across Champaign County, it caused scattered areas of damage. Storm spotters recorded a 79 MPH wind gust just south of Lake of the Woods. Four miles east of Leverett, a green house was destroyed, a machine shed was flipped over, the doors blown off of a barn, and some minor roof and shingle damage to a home. No injuries were reported.
As the severe thunderstorm moved across Douglas County, numerous reports of damage were received. In Arcola, several large trees were blown over, some of which caused damage to several tombstones and a storage shed in the cemetery. Several semis were blown over on I-57, injuring three people. A window was blown in on one business in Tuscola. In Villa Grove, the winds blew the roof off of an unoccupied house and destroyed the carport. Numerous trees were blown down countywide.
A large tree was blown down across the road 3.5 miles south of Teutopolis. No injuries or structural damage were reported.
A tornado touched down on the southwest side of Janesville (Cumberland County side of town). It hopped and skipped along a northeast path through town causing scattered damage. Three homes sustained moderate damage and an above ground pool was destroyed. A front porch on one of the homes was destroyed. Several trees were blown down as well. The tornado lifted on the northeast side of town (in Coles County). No injuries were reported and damage was estimated around $100,000.
Several power lines were blown down in Danville.
Thunderstorm winds destroyed a machine shed and a barn 4 miles west of Darwin. Two cars in the machine shed were damaged. In Darwin, numerous trees were blown down. No injuries were reported.
As the offices recorded each death: direct deaths were caused by the weather itself, indirect ones by something it set in motion.
