Rainfall of abut 4 inches in 90 minutes caused flash flooding across the north parts of St. Louis City and County. The hardest hit area was near Lambert St. Louis International Airport. The east bound lanes of Interstate 70 had to be closed for a while because of high water. Several area businesses had flooded basements due to the rapid runoff. Several people had to be rescued from a flooded parking lot at a local grocery store.
