Slow moving thunderstorms crossed the entire county during the morning hours. The heavy rain began across the northern sections, where roads in Sweetwater, including Interstate-20, had to be closed due to high water. As the rain moved south, the worst of the flooding moved with it. Farm Road 1170 at Cottonwood Creek south of Maryneal also became impassable and had to be closed.

Slow moving thunderstorms produced excessive rainfall across most of Mitchell County. Colorado City took the worst of the rainfall, where many roads became flooded and impassable.

Heavy rains moved from northwest to southeast across Taylor County during the morning hours. Near Abilene, Interstate-20 became impassable when 2 feet of water covered the roadway. Farther south in Tye, floodwaters entered the Butterfield School.
