Lightning Strike in Maine, April 26, 1999
Lightning struck a tall pine tree, travelled through the ground to a garage, and then travelled through electrical wires to a home nearby. The force of the electrical discharge ripped apart closet doors and the ceiling in the home and knocked out phone and electrical services.

Lightning struck a tall pine tree, travelled through the ground to a garage, and then travelled through electrical wires to a home nearby. The force of the electrical discharge ripped apart closet doors and the ceiling in the home and knocked out phone and electrical services. The owner, who was home at the time, drove to a nearby convenience store to report the strike, then returned to find her home in flames. The resulting fire destroyed the one story home.
