Summary of events for May 2 1998:Scattered severe thunderstorms developed along a southward-moving cold front over eastcentral Oklahoma on the afternoon of May 2. During the evening, there were more severe thunderstorms that developed in southeast Oklahoma and moved eastward into westcentral Arkansas. Some of these storms produced very large hail as evidenced by hail as large as 2 inches in diameter at Poteau.
