A severe thunderstorm developed in southern Sebastian County on the afternoon of May 2 ahead of a southward-moving cold front. That evening, another round of severe thunderstorms moved in from eastern Oklahoma as the actual cold front approached. The primary threat from these storms was large hail as evidenced by hail as large as golfballs at Greenwood.
