Hail and Damaging Wind in Illinois, May 2, 1998
A severe thunderstorm moved southeast across the Paris area. It dumped a large amount of hail, up to golfball size, which caused damage to siding on a couple of homes, defoliated trees, stripped bark, and killed birds in the trees.

A severe thunderstorm moved southeast across the Paris area. It dumped a large amount of hail, up to golfball size, which caused damage to siding on a couple of homes, defoliated trees, stripped bark, and killed birds in the trees. Also, thunderstorm winds estimated near 75 mph knocked down an oak tree and snapped several evergreens in half 2 miles east of Paris. No injuries were reported and no damage estimate was available.
