An isolated severe storm in Madison county produced large hail in the early afternoon. Thunderstorms developed on the Blue Ridge and moved east into the foothills during the mid-afternoon. One storm became severe over Morganton and produced nickel size hail as well as wind that damaged a Hardee's sign and blew a tire rack over.
