As Hurricane Bonnie moved up the coast, the strongest winds mostly affected the east side of the county including Kelly, Rowan, Murphytown, Carvers Creek, and East Arcadia where downed trees and powerlines were widespread. Five mobile homes were destroyed, and 250 homes had minor to moderate damage. Rainfall ranged from near 7 inches on the east side of the county, where flooding caused heavy crop damage, to 3 inches on the west side.
