As a severe thunderstorm moved across the area, it produced high winds that downed tree limbs, hail up to one-half inch in diameter, and heavy downpours at Mahopac.Another thunderstorm produced lightning that struck a house at 1725 Huntley Place in Hewlett. Lightning destroyed about 75 percent of the house.
