A severe thunderstorm moved rapdily across Rapides Parish, blowing numerous trees down across the parish. The hardest hit area was near Gardner, including Lake Kincaid and Cotile Lake. In fact, the recreation area at Cotile Lake was closed for the remainder of the summer due to the extent of the damages to it's camps. Damages at the lake alone were in excess of $250,000. Over fifty vehicles received some form of damage, and over 100 homes had damage, varying from lost shingles to trees falling through the roof. Wind equipment at the Rapides Parish EOC recorded winds in excess of 75 mph.
