Tornadoes and Hail in Texas, June 5, 1998
The two tornadoes were preceded by large hail that shattered numerous windows in the Lockhart area and also destroyed corn crops in and around Lockhart. The first tornado developed about 5 miles south of Lockhart.

The two tornadoes were preceded by large hail that shattered numerous windows in the Lockhart area and also destroyed corn crops in and around Lockhart. The first tornado developed about 5 miles south of Lockhart. It wasmall and very short-lived tornado was spotted by an off-duty police officer. It touched down in open country with no damage indicated. The second small tornado was spotted along SH86, around 9 miles southeast of Lockhart, as it moved briefly northeastward. This tornado, slightly stronger and longer-lived than the previous, uprooted numerous trees and snapped others at their bases.
