Severe thunderstorm winds blew trees down onto a transformer causing a fire at Leavenworth. Thunderstorm winds in Jarbalo took the roof off a barn and blew down a grain bin.

A severe thunderstorm produced large hail over much of Johnson County. Golfball-size hail was reported by local police along I-35 between I-435 and 95th Street. Further south dime to quarter-size hail was reported in Overland Park at 91st and Nall, in Stanley and at the Federal Aviation Administration facility in Olathe. In the northern section of Johnson County, large hail was reported at various points along Shawnee Mission Parkway from Shawnee eastward to Fairway.
