Severe thunderstorm winds gusted to 70 MPH throughout Leavenworth County. County Emergency Management reported 15 to 20 inch diameter trees down in Basehor. Also in Basehor, a 60 foot tree fell on two homes and a car. Numerous power lines were reported down as were numerous power outages.
Severe thunderstorm winds gusted to 70 MPH at Kansas City Kansas Community College and Emergency Management reported 4 inch tree limbs down at 123rd and Polfer. A local television station remote sensor recorded a 67 MPH wind gust 2 miles north of Bonner Springs.
Severe thunderstorm winds knocked down 10 to 15 inch tree limbs in Overland Park. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office reported large trees down in Roeland Park due to the strong thunderstorm winds.
The same severe thunderstorms that produced the damaging thunderstorm winds in Kansas City also dropped golfball-size hail at I-70 and 57th Street.
